The Bel Ombre Foundation for Empowerment, founded in 2008, aims to "empower the inhabitants of the Bel Ombre region to catch the development bandwagon by investing in training, entrepreneurship and social integration". Ongoing projects include adult literacy programmes, supporting the local artisans and the fight against poverty.
